What is your favorite medium?
Mixed media. I love to cut intricate images and collage into artwork.
What is your artistic focus and which Grafix products do you use?
I work in mainly two dimensional mixed media work. Typically, I use Grafix Double Tack and Rub-Onz Transfer Film. Lately I have been experimenting with the Shrink Film.
What word best describes your style?
Thoughtful
What inspires you?
Inspiration bounds from a variety of avenues. Mostly, I find inspiration in something I see… this could be a torn paper with a grocery list or a beautiful flower. I’m never really sure what will spark an idea. Experience has taught me to be patient and let my process evolve.
About Kimberly
A graduate from Austin Peay State University with a degree in Fine Arts, and a concentration in Graphic Design, Kimberly Santiago began her career as a graphic designer and was elated to be recognized in HOW design magazine, self-promotion issue. Kimberly continued to work in the design field and win other awards, notably, Conquer Paper Promotional piece, which she traveled to the Wiggins Teape’s Paperpoint at Convent Gardens and Butlers Wharf, London continuing to a venue in Paris. From graphic design, Kimberly started teaching and later became a Department Chair of Graphic Design and Fine Art at O’More College of Design, Franklin Tennessee.
She has been published in numerous trade periodicals. Currently she is working on her second book Mixed Media Materials (working title) with F + W Media, North Light Books Fall 2014.
When not working in her studio, Kimberly divides her time between Gulf Shores, Alabama and Clarksville, Tennessee.
