Shrink Film Card

Project Description:

Enjoy and learn how to make this 3D Shrink Film card , designed by artist Keren Baker!

Designed by: Keren Baker

Difficulty: Moderate

Materials:

Grafix Shrink Film Matte 8.5” x 11”
• ETS27, JOFY 49, JOFY 73 & EGL16 Stamp sets (PaperArtsy)
• Jet Black Stazon Ink, Tuxedo Black Memento ink (Tsukineko)
• Glossy Accents (Ranger)
• Acrylic Paints in Haystack, Aquamarine, Bougainvillea, Prawn, Sargasso (PaperArtsy)
• Distress Oxide Reinkers in Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry & Speckled Egg (Ranger)
• White gel pen & black gel pen (Sakura)
• Pink wire
• Translucent Glitter
• White and Dark Green Cardstock
• Alcohol markers in Purples, Pinks and Greens

Directions:

1. Using the Shrink film and Jet Black Stazon ink, stamp some images onto the film.
2. Fill the sheet with different sized images and leave to dry fully.
3. Trim out the images. You can paint on the reverse, paint on the top and restamp the image (using a stamping platform) or leave blank and paint afterwards. If you paint from the reverse, you’ll get a very subtle colour appearing through.
4. Shrink, following the instructions to bake each items. For this project, I also painted over the top once shrunk, adding Glossy Accents after the paint is dry and sprinkling a little glitter whilst the Glossy Accents is still wet.
5. Stamp and colour the floral and leaf images, trim out. Wind wire around a skewer to make coiled lengths. Now arrange all elements to make a pleasing design.
6. Stamp the alpha background onto some white cardstock. Dab some ink onto a heat mat, spray with water and slide portions of the stamped panel into the wet ink. Allow to dry.
7. Add all elements onto the stamped panel and back onto a dark green card panel measuring 10.5cm x 20.5cm. add black and white gel pen dots to complete the card.

Tips:

  1. For best results bake the items, but if speed is your goal, you can use a heat gun, something to keep the images from moving and an acrylic block to make sure the final image is flat.
  2. These embellishments are just perfect for adding focal points to cards, tags, scrapbooks, frames or home décor. Just remember that it SHRINKS- so choose those larger downloads, stamps or sketches!
